Well I’m happy to say that my port pain is gone! I went through the entire day today without one ouch/owwww/eeeeeek from the port area. I can sleep on any side I like (side of my body that is – my husband won’t give up his side of the bed). The only time I feel a wee bit of pain is when I lay on my stomach so my solution is to not lay on my stomach.
In other news, I tried to call NWWLS and see if I could come in “early” for my first fill…but they stuck to their guns…4 weeks. No exceptions. Well, this goes to show that I should have gone to law school because I got them to budge! Yes – by one…yes, you read that correctly, ONE WHOLE DAY!!! So now I’m going in on March 31st instead of April 1st. I feel better about not going in on April Fools Day for some reason. I could just see them sticking me with the needle and saying “got the port”…just kidding.
Did I mention I am not a huge fan of the needle?

Hi Lise,
I just read through your entire blog. I am going to be banded at NWWLS on March 31st by Dr.Michaelson. And I, too, live in Seattle.
Thanks for your candor and info. These days I need to keep motivated as I started the pre-op diet yesterday.
Keep on keepin on!
Rachael: Yeahhh- another NWWLS gal! Are you going to the next support group (the night one)? I am. I am. I am! Wow – your banding is right around the corner! Well – you are in the best hands at NWWLS. And let me warn you – right before you go into surgery you get to sit in these big…recliner-ish chairs that are SOOOO nice. And they give you these warm blankets…I never wanted to get up. I wanted them to do the surgery right there in those chairs! Ahhhh…makes me want to go back…but I’m not very sure that 2 bands would make me lose weight twice as fast.
Lise–I will be at the next support group meeting. Say hi if you think of it….or I will since I see your pic on your blog and you don’t know what I look like. I went to the last evening one….thought I should start even before the operation.
Those chairs sound great…! Something to look forward to…since I am nervous about the actual surgery. I am a wuss when it comes to pain.
Yeahhh – I will have someone to sit with! You must find me and introduce yourself.
Don’t worry about the surgery – it’s actually not bad…it’s like a day at the spa…almost!
