Today I went to see my doctor and she told me that I must be very careful when taking my daily pills (ones I’ve been taking everyday and will be taking everyday for the rest of my life). She told me that even though they are small, it’s a good idea to use a pill splitter to break them up once I have my fill as other patients of hers who have been banded have been known to have pills get “stuck” and then they would throw them up. Not too big of a deal…just means I have to cut my 4 daily pills into 2. Also, she told me to take them with a cup of water – and to sip the water. Again, not too big of a deal. But I thought I would share in case anyone out there is thinking of taking big bulky pills without water or without breaking them up. I would hate for any of you to be throwing up when the answer is a simple pill splitter!

Dearest Lise;
What a joy to read your blog ( though we hate hearing of your pain.) You are a brave young woman- and a great writer/communicator. We are coming over the last weekend of this month to celebrate birthdays for Lise,Otis and Brent. We love you!!!
Why thank you!!! I’m so happy you wrote.
And I can’t wait to see you very soon to celebrate. I love you too!!!
Lise,
I take about 20 pills a day, varying size and shapes, and I have no problem with any pills, as long as I drink something warm to open me up in the morning before i start taking them.
Saundra
Saundra – very good to know – thank you!
I take a big multivitamin and haven’t had any problem yet. I think I’m finally at my optimal fill level. But it’s good to be cautious.
Good to hear, Kristi! I was a bit nervous when my doc told me to split the pills up…they are really tiny as it is.
