Losing a pound overnight
May 14, 2008 by lisetheloser
Don’t you love those days when you lose a pound overnight and you don’t really know why? I mean you haven’t eaten any differently…and then you step on the scale and whooosh - a pound down! That’s what happened to me today. It’s like a wonderful way to start the day. Puts a smile on your face. Here’s my updated weight loss tracking graph - starting on my surgery date of 3/4 through today. Down a total of 32.8 pounds. 56.2 to go! ![]()
Congratulations Lise. That is very exciting. I’m getting banded in 8 more days and I couldn’t be more excited. Of course my doctor has me on the 2 week liquid diet, and that part REALLY sucks. Oh well, it’s not permanent. Keep up the great work!
Congrats, Lise! That’s great progress! I’m getting banded on June 17 and I found your site….from somewhere, I can’t really remember now.
I’ve been reading and I cannot begin to tell you how encouraged I am by your progress!!!!
And yes, losing a pound over night is wonderful!!!!!!
Hi lise my name is avawn just wanted to say. Great job on your weight lost so far! I got banded at NWWLS on march 5th also. I love your blog I read it every day keep blogging
Hey Lise,
Been keepin up on your blog, just really busy to comment. Your loss is fantastic. I kinow that scale is a goofy thing sometimes. As silly as it sounds, I will jump on in the morning, shower, use the restroom whatever and hop back on. I guess all that dancing in the shower pays off to drop a few ounces. Just kidding. Your beach house in Whidbey sounds so dreamy. I wish I could get away to somewhere I loved every weekend.
I just caught something after the news which caught my attention. I was makin dinner and heard it on ET. Entertainment tonight. It was about lapband. This young 22 yr old soap star (Guiding Light I think) had the surgery in real life. They also wrote it into her story character line. She has lost so much in the month or so since having it. Wouldn’t it be awesome to be in an environment at work with everyone sooooooo supportive and non judgemental such as what she gets. I’m cool but I have read many posts on LBT where people are nervous to comeout of the lapband closet so to say. Then of course they did a plug to go to lapband.com. Very cool. Perhaps we might not be such a minority anymore. Kinda makes me wanna Tivo Guiding Light just to follow her story line. I might check out ET’s website to check it out again.
I also have 2 friends that I have intrigued by the band. Their insurance will probably cover so unfortunately they have the waiting game and 6 months of attempted diet under medical supervision. UGH!!! In LBT posts I have found that some doctors are kinda railroading patients into bypass over the band. Obviously it costs more but for my friends, I sent them a link to this woman who has had some pretty nasty side effects 4 years post op. Coach Cher from LBT wanted people to see this. Keep in mind, bypass is lifesaving and life altering however I was surprised by this woman’s side effects. She now has a seizure disorder, sometimes related to her hypoglycemia. She is severely anemic, having to get b 12 injections for life etc., etc. She looks amazing, just saddened by the side effects. Not that lapband, doen’t have its complications, but it is reversible. Check out her You Tube Blog. She is Amazing. Her website is:

I have a friend who had bypass and is so malnourished (not thin but severely lacking the good nutrients) , lost a lot of hair, can’t eat sugar without bouts of diarrhea (Whoa how do I spell this???LOL) and has gained weight back. She gets intoxicated at a rapid rate which I think she is using as her new vice for comfort. Weight loss surgery unfortunately can’t always fix what is wrong in our heads.
Stay so strong Lise. You are a true inspiration!!! Shout out to Ms. Robbie. I can’t wait to hear your milestones. First fill coming up soon? I bet you are doing excellent without one. My appetite is back with a vengence. The swelling is so gone away. I miss it. I guess I can schedule a fill in 2-3 weeks. God Bless everyone on our journey to a new life.
*MUAH* Alice
Wow Lise. Congrats! I too love keeping up with your blog. So inspiring and fun.
Fan-tam-tas-tic!!!! You go with your bad self!
Jaime: Wow - your big day is almost here! And I agree - the liquid diet is not much fun - but well worth it!
Amy - thank you! And congrats on your band date!
Avawn: Another NWWLS bander! Welcome!
Alice: my mom told me about the ET gal, as well! She told me that she looked like me about to get banded w/ the surgical cap on! I am just like you with the scale…a bit of an addict! And I’m so glad I didn’t do bypass!!!
Diz: Thank you!!!
Redfish: You rock - thanks!
Howdy Lise,
So glad to hear you are STILL LOSING! Congrats!!!!!
(Hey Alice!!)
I get my first fill in a week or so. I will be so happy to be full faster.
I have been trying to stay on 1000 cal per day, but get hungry!
So far I have lost 16 lbs. I have been working out 2-3 times per week. I know that it has just been 1 month, but seems like longer since my surgery.
It is good to just lose anything…my face is looking a little smaller and I have been shopping in my own closet….getting clothes out that I coulden’t get in to a month ago.
A couple of people have noticed that I must be on a diet, cause I am not eating like I normally do.
I am eating bread (whole wheat)- and everything else the whole family eats but smaller amounts. (not junk)
I guess I won’t be able to do that after the fill. Wow you have willpower! That steak looked sooooooooo good.
Take care of you.
Robbie
Sun 5/18 So I got bitten by the bugg. The bodybugg that is. I came across a thread or post about the bodybugg on LBT.com. It looks kinda cool. So instead of purchasing one from the 24hour fitness. com website, I drove to the nearest club and bought it for the sale price on the website. I also joined under a no contract membership. I get 2 free personal training sessions. Maybe she will be like Jillian on Biggest Loser….Uh Oh….. Anyway, the bodybugg is what all the contestants wore on the show. You log all the calories you eat for the day and it will tell u how much you are burning. You have to meet a certain defecit daily to get to your weight loss goal for that week. You just plug in the software how much you want to lose, and it will tell you how much u have to intake, and burn. I hear it is really good to break thru plateaus. I won’t use the word gym ever…because u say ewwwwwwww. LOL But I will keep u posted. My weight has stalled since 3rd week. I am hoping the numbers in my face might be motivating , 2-3 more weeks til first fill. Gotta go set up the bugg. Hope u are enjoying Whidbey!!!!
You sound like you are doing awesome Ms. Robbie. Keep up the motivation.
Alice,
I still haven’t lost any more weight….going for my first fill in 9 days…the Dr. office won’t budge to do my fill before 6 full weeks.
I am glad to know that you have stalled too. ( Not glad for you, but you know, I am not the only one…! )
So I suppose that we do need time for out bodies to adjust, but I am tired to being hungry every 2 hours. I have been trying to be good, and I am still working out, but haven’t lost another ounce….(15 lbs total.)
I keep reminding myself that it’s only been a month and to be patient and that I didn’t get fat overnight and it wil be a slow process.
I am so proud of Lise, she keeps losing and losing….Wow!
She is truly an example for me.
Blessings to all~
Robbie
